Menopause had been a taboo for a long time, but nowadays we are finding more modern ways to address the topic. Here is how to destigmatize menopause!
While menstruation is still stigmatized, menopause has a greater stigma over it as it is directly linked to aging –the unspeakable word for women. But menstruating, aging, and menopause are all-natural processes of our bodies and I refuse to feel shame for them. So here are some tips as to how to destigmatize menopause.
The menopause and the shame
Why should we feel ashamed of menopause? Well, first, in a society where women have been valued for their reproductive ability. In this heterosexual-normative society, once women are not only able to get pregnant, you use in society drops. Of course, I consider this to be antiquated and simply wrong.
How is menopause destigmatized?
Luckily, there has been a new range of menopause care companies that are trying to address the symptoms and provide innovative products. In addition to personal care, brands finally are actually starting to cater to the skincare and haircare requirements of people experiencing menopause.
The bottom line
Women shouldn’t feel ashamed of a natural process, aging is just part of life, but we acknowledge the fact that there is a need for more research and new products to address the physical and psychological effects of menopause.
