In an interview with Body+Soul, the supermodel and businesswoman Rosie Huntington-Whiteley reveals how she balances her personal life with her work. Let’s see
How does she balance being a businesswoman with her personal life?
She says that sometimes it is not easy to balance her work with the fact of being a mum. Although Rosie and her husband are usually busy, she mentions that there are some certain parameters that they won’t go beyond: “I put my son Jack down every single night; I’m there every single morning; my phone goes away when we spend time with each other.”
“I feel like I’m still a new mum – [even though] my son is three. [But] I have clear communications between myself and Jason. It takes a lot of support around you to raise a child,” also says the model.
How did she go about building your business Rose Inc?
Rosie has recently launched her own business Rose Inc and she also works for US cruelty-free cosmetics company Hourglass. According to the model, she has always felt that modeling was going to be short-lived since she started when she was 16 years old. “I’m now 33, so it’s been more than half of my life. Despite there being a lot of successes, there were periods when I didn’t work – it was tough, there were downs, there were lulls in work. And in those periods, I became much more aware of what I really wanted to do, and where I really felt that my strengths lie. Any time life throws a curveball, you have to overcome it,” she told Body+Soul.
What were those curveballs?
“I have never been comfortable with the idea of sitting around waiting for the phone to ring,” says Rosie. She considers herself a very ambitious and creative person who loves working so Rose Inc started as a project for her.
How does it feel for her to reflect on her catwalk career?
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has modeled for several brands such as Victoria’s Secret and Givenchy during these years. In this context, she says: “I look back to my 20s and feel very fortunate, but [I am] ready to move on to the next chapter. [Now my focus is] carving out my own work.”
What products from Hourglass are in her make-up bag?
Rosie is the first brand ambassador of Hourglass and she loves its products. “I use the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit mini sculpture palette. It has four shades: a bronzer, an ambient lighting powder, a blush, and a highlighter. These powders make you look like you have soft, lit-from-within skin.”
