Some might find it more difficult to have a workout routine and some others might enjoy doing exercise, but did you know that what you do before working out is as important as the exercise itself? In case you didn't know, we'll tell you about 5 things you should never do before training.
Doing exercise is not only about running or lifting some weights. To be able to profit from exercise there are several aspects you should bear in mind, such as the food you eat and your sleeping routine. Here is a list of things you should avoid before doing exercise!
1. Eating or drinking too much
After eating, your body begins the digestion process. What you may often not take into account is the amount of energy your body needs for this process. If the meal has not been digested, it will not provide fuel for the workout session, in fact, food eaten before doing exercise is more likely to be undigested and sit in our stomach during exercise. When you try to exercise during the digestive process, you could be putting too much pressure on your body. This can cause stomach cramps and nausea.
2. Compromise Sleep
Sleeping is important for all body functions and it is absolutely paramount for you to get a good night's sleep before a workout session. If you think a nap is necessary before exercise, set an alarm at 15-20 minutes. You will have time to rest, but you will not trick your mind into thinking that it is time to rest for a long time.
3. Stretching before working out
Stretching before exercise not only decreases muscle strength, it also increases the risk of unnecessarily straining your muscles. This increases the risk of muscle injury.
Instead of using static stretching methods before a workout, warm up your muscles by moving them in one way or another.
4. Not choosing the right clothes
Choose the right fabrics to do exercise and make sure your shoes are adequate for the type of exercise you do. It is important to wear the right clothes when training your body since these are designed so that you can move without discomfort. The same thing happens with the shoes, which are made in such a way that they accompany your feet and do not hurt them.
5. Not drinking enough water
Drinking water is essential for life in general, and exercise in particular. It is very important that you stay hydrated throughout the day, but especially when exercising to avoid possible injuries. Ideally, drink little by little along the way, and add sips as training demands.
Next time you work out, we suggest you follow these 5 steps. You will feel the difference!
