If you are finding it hard to carve out the time to work out again, you are not alone. While keeping a routine can be challenging when life gets in the way –or the pandemic, actually–, these tips will help you get back on track!
Exercise is paramount for a healthy lifestyle, but we might sometimes struggle to keep healthy habits. It is ok, sometimes you cannot control the circumstances. But this is what you can do about it!
1. Be realistic
When setting your fitness goals, be specific and realistic. If you know you can’t commit to running every day for an hour, try starting by doing it 3 times a week. You might think that it is not enough, but any exercise is better than nothing. Don’t measure your progress to what you used to do, think about what you can control now, it can take longer to reestablish your habit, and that is ok, you have to start somewhere.
2. Take baby steps
While it is perfectly fine to have a big goal, it might sometimes be intimidating, instead set smaller, more achievable goals. You can even start by waking up earlier and taking a walk if your goal is to run every morning. Then slowly increase your goals.
3. Try something new
If your old routine isn’t doing the trick, it might be worth trying a different class. Changing the place or the activity can help you change your mindset.
4. Plan what you want to do
To keep you on track you not only need motivation, but you also need to focus on your goals a plan your steps. For example, if you want to run, think of what you could do if it was raining, what kind of workout will you do if a meeting is extended and you have limited time?
Remember that if you are not where you’d like to be, it could take time and effort, but you’ve come this far, life is about taking baby steps towards your goal.
