Homeworking and sedentarism: How can you offset a complete day of sitting?

Scientists have discovered how much exercise is necessary to counteract the negative health impact. See what you can do about it!

The amount of hours some of us spend sitting down is more than we would like to, new research suggests that about 30 or 40 minutes a day of exercise can do the trick to offset the health risks of sedentarism.

Try walking for at least 30 minutes a day.

If you spend 40 minutes a day of moderate to vigorous physical activity will balance out 10 hours of sitting still, if you cannot do that much, any amount or just standing up will help.

If possible, try to stand up every 30 minutes.

Studies have shown that the risk of death among the people who did 40 minutes of exercise went down. This is to say, that trying to do some moderate-intensity physical activity like cycling, gardening or walking can significantly help.

Doing some gardening is better than doing nothing.

Always remember that some exercise is better than none!
