Sure, we hear everyone talking about the importance of self-care, but no one ever mentions how to get a routine on point, where to start, or how to do it! Here’s a guide to help.
Self-care is really important, that is for sure. But when you don’t know where to start, you might end up doing it wrong, spending a lot of money on products you barely know how to use, or even feeling bad about yourself for not getting it right. We have all been there, so here’s a guide to get you started on a basic routine.
Keeping it simple is key until you get the habit. Ideally, start with a 3-step routine. First, clean. Second, moisturize. Third, apply sunscreen. Once you get ahold of these three steps every single day, you can make your routine a bit more complex, adding new steps or products.
It is also important to determine your skin type. This sounds obvious, but it is not. And it can also be tricky. Skin is classified into four main types: oily, dry, sensitive, and a combination.
Oily skin is the skin that looks shiny because it overproduces oil. Dry skin is flakey and it might feel tight in some areas. Sensitive skin easily irritated and it might be painful to the touch. Combination skin is, generally, a mixture of oily and flaky.
Once you know your skin type, you can choose your products wisely. Luckily, there are cleansers and moisturizer for every skin type, so it’s just a matter of going to the beauty aisle and choosing one!
