Micellar shampoos: what are they and how do they work?

People are familiar with micellar water: a popular skincare product and French beauty staple that uses tiny molecules to eliminate surface makeup and dirt without stripping the skin.

Do you want to discover the new in? Micellar shampoo. This one is going to blow your mind.

“This is a shampoo that uses micelles [molecules] in the surfactant. These micelles have properties that attract both water and oil. They are found to cleanse the hair and scalp without stripping the hair of essential, natural oils,” explains Leigh Hardges, a stylist at Maxine Salon in Chicago.

Micellar shampoos also deliver a clean similar to that of a clarifying shampoo, getting rid of product, dirt, and oil buildup. It’s better because these products leave the hair softer and more hydrated even in hair types prone to dryness as curly or color-treated hair.

Every person and every type of hair benefit from micellar shampoo. You can use it every time you take a shower and your hair will feel better. This technology will remove any gunk or product buildup that inevitably builds up on the scalp without harming your hair color or its integrity.

"The benefits of micellar shampoos lie in the fact that the micelles are helping to get your hair as clean as possible, without being too aggressive," says Lidia Zullo, Artistic Director at The Beauty & Blow Dry Studio, in an interview with Byrdie. "Therefore, they'll leave the feeling of more moisture and hydration in your hair."

The optimizing neutralizing scent repels odors like cigarette smoke, car exhaust, and other environmental pollutants to keep your hair feeling and smelling fresh all day long. It’s perfect if you live in an urban environment or just want to keep your hair smelling great!
