The actress has shared some beauty tips with her fans.
The 12 Years a Slave actress has always been a fan of beauty–in an interview with Glamour in 2014, Lupita shared how, when she was a teen, she petitioned for girls to wear makeup at her school: “I went to an all-boys high school, and they accepted girls in only the two A.P. classes. They had these archaic rules: For example, girls couldn't wear makeup," she said. "I found it so outrageous that an all-boys school could tell girls to not wear makeup! So I went on a campaign. I got a petition signed and everything. If a girl wants to wear makeup to boost confidence, why not?!”
Here are her tips to be glowing with simple changes
Keep it simple
Face wash, toner, then natural oils—such as calendula—before moisturizer. If it’s too complicated, it’s not worth it, at least that’s Lupita’s philosophy.
When Vogue Japan asked her what her beauty care routine was, she simply answered “Sleep, hydrate, exercise, moisturize.” For her dry skin, she uses an oil-based makeup remover, “I have a very dry complexion, so I use avocado oil to wipe off my makeup,” the actress explained.
She doesn’t wash her face in the mornings
The actress cleanses her face before bed and not when she wakes up, “natural oils are so important because I have dry skin. I want them to last throughout the day. That's when you need moisture the most." she explained.
Her favorite PM serum
She uses Lancôme Génifique serum in her bedtime routine as it is a great hydrator, she also applies it after a long flight when her skin is dry.
Make time for self-care
The actress has recently started to meditate and she’s just in love with it. “I’ve been interested in meditation for a long time, but I’ve only now started in earnest. I do it on my own, without an app or anything."
Not a makeup fan
Lupita doesn’t see makeup as a mask or a shield. She believes it is something to play with and have fun. Although she’s not constantly wearing makeup, she enjoys from time to time a black mascara and a bright red lipstick.
