Of course, aging is a natural process, and there is no shame in having wrinkles. But there are some things you can do to prevent them.
Fine lines around your mouth can be tricky to prevent and treat. One of the most common ways to treat unwanted wrinkles is hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers that are injected. Hyaluronic acid is in our body cells, but the production drops as we get older. But if you don’t want to use any fillers, there are still some other non-invasive ways to make them look less apparent.
1. Oil massages
Oils have several anti-aging benefits as they fight free radicals that can damage your skin. Apart from the antioxidants that ward off oxidative damage, they are highly moisturizing which is essential to prevent wrinkles. Coconut oil, rosehip oil or olive oil will do, just massage it onto the lines around your lips with your fingertips and live it overnight for a plumper appearance.
2. Lemon Juice
The acid present in lemons tightens the skin and the antioxidants in the fruit can fight free radical damage and promote collagen production. Dab the juice onto the problematic area using your fingertips –any citrus fruit will do.
Collagen is produced by our bodies naturally and it also decreases with the aging process, but it is an important protein to promote healthy skin, maintain our connective tissues and muscles and promote elasticity and hydration. Use a night serum rich in collagen and apply it every night after cleansing and toning. You can follow with an ultra-hydrating moisturizer.
How to prevent wrinkles around your mouth
First, avoid anything like straws or smoking –even electronic ones. As you pucker your mouth it encourages the breakdown of elasticity and collagen. Follow a solid skincare routine and, as usual, sunscreen is paramount to preventing wrinkles as UV rays cause premature aging.
