Step 1: Trim nails

For this type of nail design, the longer you have your nails, the better. So trim your nails to the desired length and make sure all your nails are the same length.

Step 2: File your nails

Use a nail file to finish shaping your nails. Be gently and do not push them down as it can damage them. Shape your nails depending on your preference: you can try a square or a round shape.

Step 3: Soak your nails

Fill a bowl with warm water and soak your nails for about three minutes. Then dry your hands with a towel. This helps soften your cuticles before the following step.

Step 4: Push back your cuticles

With an orange stick push your cuticles back. Although many beauty salons trim your cuticles, do not do it as it can lead to infections and can cause deformities on your nails such as ridges or discoloration. In this step, you can also massage your cuticles with a cuticle oil which helps keep your cuticles soft and healthy.

Step 5: Apply the base coat

The most common polishes for the base coat are pale pink, cream, or clear polish. However, you can choose the color you like. Start by painting a stripe down the center of your first nail, then two more stripes on either side. Let it dry and apply a second coat.

Step 6: Paint your nails tip with white polish

The white polish goes right where you have the whites of your nails. Let it dry for some minutes and then you can apply another coat. If you have some problems painting the straight line, here some helpful tips:

  1. Use a scotch tape: stick it in your nail leaving just a small strip you need to paint. Apply the white polish
  2. Use a band-aid: put it on the top of the nail, so that only a small portion of the tip is exposed. Apply the white polish

Step 7: Apply the topcoat
