We have long stated the benefits of practicing different breathing techniques and meditation, but did you know that it could actually lead to better skin?
We take a breath approximately 23,000 times a day and don’t even notice it, and now we know that incorporating breathing techniques can contribute greatly to our wellness. But how?
Think of breathing as a bridge between your inner and outer world –and most of us don’t use it effectively. Stress can impact our sleeping routines and sleep deprivation can result in dehydration, breakouts or dull skin. Breathing properly can help reduce stress and bring more oxygen to our organs and we will see many positive changes.
It’s no news that our cardiovascular system, endocrine system, digestive system, nervous system, immune system and lymphatic system are directly affected by the way we breathe, but how does it impact skin?
Breathwork and the skin
Our lungs not only carry oxygen to our organs, but it also releases toxins from our cells and deep breathing will offer not only more precious oxygen but also more nutrients. Cells actually adapt to oxygen availability, so short periods of deep breathing could stimulate cell activity –the very same all age-defying lotions and serums claim to do for us.
Now that you know, practice different breathing techniques!
