We all know how to wash our hair when taking a shower since we learned it as children. However, little we know about what to do when our hair is damaged. Here we share everything you need to know to change your washing routine and improve your hair.
All the washing process is important to have clean hair. But does washing help keep the hair healthy? Of course yes but you should take in mind some important things:
Tips for shampooing
1) Steam your hair before shampooing it:
Before jumping into the shower, soak a towel in hot water, wringing out the excess water. Wrap this towel around your head and leave it on for 20 minutes before taking a shower. This is the best way to clean the oil and dirt on the scalp.
3) Massage your hair :
Before using shampoo, gently massage your scalp with your fingers for a few minutes. This can help loosen up the dirt.
4) Apply shampoo only on the scalp:
This is important since many people apply shampoo in all their hair. The purpose of shampoo is to cleanse and remove the dirt, dead skin cells from your scalp. Using shampoo on the lengths of your hair will only strip it of its natural oils and leave it looking dry.
5) Try not to wash your hair so frequently
It is suggested that you should use natural shampoo without parabens and other chemicals. However, most known shampoos contain chemicals and they can make your hair extremely dry if you happen to use it daily. So, it is best not to wash your hair more than twice or three times a week to maintain its health and optimum moisture level.
Tips for conditioning
1) Use an oil before the shower:
A good way to condition and moisturize your hair naturally is to massage it with hair oil. The oil penetrates your hair and can give you shinier, and frizz-free hair. Apply the oil on your scalp, doing a massage.
Some nice oils you can use:
- Coconut oil
- Olive oil
- Almond oil
2) Dry with a towel before conditioning:
This may sound weird but it is a good habit to incorporate into your washing routine. After shampooing and before using the conditioner, wrap a towel around your head to soak up all the excess water and then apply conditioner. This helps the conditioner penetrate effectively and prevent your hair from frizzing up.
3)Don’t use too much conditioner:
This can make your hair look super oily.
Tip for detangling
1) Detangle when you still have conditioner:
In the shower after you have applied conditioner to your hair. As a result, you can avoid pulling strands out.
