There is a new buzzword you need to add to your beauty routine dictionary –along with slugging, dewy, glowy. If you’ve never heard of “the moisture sandwich,” here is the ABCs to this new trend.
We are by now familiar with several phases and words related to skincare and makeup we never even know existed. But this new approach to skincare has several benefits and I think it is worth giving it a try.
What is a moisture sandwich?
Moisture sandwich refers to the layering of your skincare products to reduce water loss and trap moisture in your skin barrier. The idea is to layer watery products on damp skin with a thicker product to get the water trapped for longer –thus providing long-lasting hydration.
The process
If you want to keep your limps plump and hydrated, you should damp your mouth with water, apply a regular moisturizer and finish by topping it with a thick balm. The water will make it easier for the moisturizer to penetrate your lips and the balm will make sure the products do not evaporate.
If you want to try this technique on your face, you first have to make sure to cleanse, rinse, and let it remain a bit wet, apply your moisturizer of choice and face oil or a balm –especially if your skin is dry.
The moisture sandwich technique will turn your complexion glowy and even, and it will allow active ingredients to penetrate deeper into your skin.
