We all want glowy, dewy, healthy skin. We have been concerned about skincare more than 6000 years ago, where the first evidence of cosmetics from Ancient Egypt appeared. But it might have even existed for longer.
Dewy skin is far from being a trend. We all want that supple, glowing, and smooth complexion and it is in part a consequence of light bouncing off the water retain in your cells.
How can to get dewy skin?
1. The skincare routine
If you want to achieve the perfect dewy skin, you have to follow a solid skincare routine.
- Cleanse: steer clear of harsh cleansers that strip the skin and go for calming ingredients.
- Exfoliate: whether chemical or physical, it is important to remove the layers of dead skin cells and promote new cell growth. But don’t overdo it as it can cause micro-tears.
- Moisturize: seal in moisture after using a humectant such as glycerin or hyaluronic acid –which hydrates the skin.
2. Vitamin C
Skincare products rich in Vitamin C will promote cell turnover, brighten your skin and reduce discoloration. It is also great to help neutralize free radicals.
3. Diet
Stay hydrated, include healthy fats to keep your skin thick and moisturized, eat food rich in antioxidants and reduce foods with high glycemic indexes.
4. Don’t smoke
Smoking will reduce the flow of oxygen and nutrients to the skin cells, making your skin look dull.
5. Sleep
sleeping at least 8 hours –and some people might need even more– is paramount for our body health. Sleep deprivation is associated with depression, Alzheimer’s disease, diabetes, heart disease, weight gain, it affects our immune system and those who sleep more have proved to have a longer lifespan. Not sleeping enough will take a toll on your skin and health.
6. Reduce stress
When you’re stressed out, your body increases the production of the stress hormone cortisol, which plays a role in how much oil your body releases from its sebaceous glands. If you have excess oil production, it can lead to acne.
Skin health is greatly impacted by your lifestyle, make sure you make the right choices for dewy skin!
