Many people believe spicy food can hinder your digestion and cause other digestive issues such as acid reflux or inflammatory bowel disease. Let's separate the myth from the fact.
The truth is that spicy foods shouldn't cause a digestive problem, but if you happen to have any digestive issues, it may make it worse.
we also tend to overlook the kind of foods we eat that are spicy, for example having some hot fries or chicken, can cause digestive distress because they are packed with oil, not because of the spices in them.
In addition, many spicy foods are packed with vitamins and other antioxidants which have anti-inflammatory properties. So if you don't usually experience any distress after having spicy foods, there is no reason to avoid hot foods and spices.
Another common belief is that if you have spicy foods it may lead to ulcers either in the small intestine or the stomach lining, but nutritionists agree that spices can only aggravate the symptoms if you already have ulcers.
It is perfectly safe to include spices and hot foods if you don't have any underlying condition, in fact, chilies and peppers have lots of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
