While it is not always safe to eat moldy foods, there are some that are still edible even if they have a speck of old. While you should definitely toss cook leftover meat and poultry, cooked grains and pasta, soft cheeses, yogurt, jams, and baked goods, because they can turn into mycotoxins, there are some other foods that you can still eat.

Moldy cheeses

Some types of cheese have a signature mold that gives them their characteristic flavor. Brie, blue cheese, gorgonzola and camembert are good examples of moldy cheese. 

Hard cheeses

If hard cheeses have moldy crusts, cut the mold and use a clean knife afterward to prevent cross-contamination. 

Firm fruits and veggies

Carrots, potatoes, and turnips have strong skin that mold can't generally penetrate. Other vegetables and fruits like strawberries, corn, and cherries, are more likely to host dangerous molds on the inside. 

Cured cold cuts

 Some types of cheese have a signature mold that gives them their characteristic flavor. 

Hard salami or dry-cured ham can have a white coating on the outside, this protects the cured meat from bacteria, just make sure to remove it before eating.
