A vegan twist on the classic comfort food.
Chicken wings are one of those few lucky foods that are famous enough to boast of their own creation myth. The origin of chicken wings is attributed to a restaurant in Buffalo, New York, in early 1960. For this reason, they are called "buffalo wings".
According to the story, Teressa Bellissimo, owner of the Anchor Bar in Buffalo, New York came up with buffalo wings one night in 1964. The place was full and she decided to make a quick appetizer with chicken leftovers to keep customers entertained. The result was soon transformed into a popular dish.
The original Buffalo chicken wings are a traditional recipe in the United States, where the wings are fried and then covered with a mixture of hot sauce and butter or margarine. Our vegan version contains tofu instead of chicken and vegan margarine. Not the same ingredients, but just as delicious and a great way to use tofu in a different way.
