Do not throw away the pumpkin seed! You can use them to create a healthy snack! Here is the recipe
You want a healthy snack but you do not know what to eat? Pumpkin seeds are easy to prepare and delicious to eat.
- 2 cups of fresh pumpkin seeds
- 3 tablespoons butter, melted, or any cooking oil
- 1 teaspoon salt and/or other seasonings
1) Preheat the oven
Before starting with the seeds, be sure you preheat the oven to 250°. This will help the pumpkin seeds cook evenly.
2) Remove the seeds
Use a sharp knife to cut around the top of the pumpkin and remove the “lid.” Then using a large spoon or an ice cream scoop scrape the sides of the pumpkin to remove the seeds and pulp. Put all the seeds in a large bowl. The number of seeds you will have depends on the size of your pumpkin.
3) Wash and dry the seeds
Now, to remove any pulp left on the seeds, put them in a colander and rinse them properly under cold running water. Once you finish washing, pat them dry with a towel.
4) Season the seeds
Put the seeds in a bowl with butter or oil and season with salt and pepper to taste. In this step, you can add the seasonings you want. For example, some people use garlic powder and paprika. Stir to make sure each seed is coated and place them in a lightly greased cookie sheet
5) Roast the seeds
Put the seeds in the oven to roast. They get roasted at a moderate heat of 350°F (177ºC) for about 12 to 15 minutes. Pay attention and toss the seeds every 5 minutes to encourage even browning. When you smell a nutty aroma and they have a golden brown color, they are ready!
