Green tea and black tea have always been a subject of discussion. Let's shed some light on the matter!
Whether one is better than the other is practically out of the question since both have great properties that benefit the body. They do have differences, though. But they lie mainly in the treatment process after being harvested.
1. Green tea contains less caffeine and more nutrients
While black tea has more caffeine than green tea which makes it stimulating for certain occasions; green tea is the most recommended for weight loss. Besides, it also contains important nutrients such as iron and vitamin C that black tea does not have.
2. Green tea is a rich source of catechins
Green tea is considered the richest source of catechins and the difference with black tea is high. It should be noted that catechins act as antioxidants and their presence prevents the reproduction of cancer cells.
3. Green tea is recommended for some diseases
Green tea is recommended for cardiovascular diseases and arthritis is another disease that due to its anti-inflammatory properties. In this case, black tea is not indicated to counteract these diseases due to its low level of catechins.
4. Black tea contains more protein
On the other hand, black tea contains slightly more proteins than green tea. In 100 grams of tea, the green tea infusion can contain 0.1 grams of protein while the infusion of black tea can contain 0.2 grams.
5. Black tea contains more anthocyanins
Anthocyanins are helpful in restoring capillary health; protecting vision, the heart, and arteries; and improving the immune system. It also helps to improve the appearance of the skin, characterizing itself as the ideal anti-aging tea. It is best to combine these types of tea in the daily diet, to take advantage of all its benefits.
