While drinking in excess is by no means recommended, drinking occasionally is actually ritualized in our culture as a way to unwind. So, if you are going to have a drink once in a while these are the drinks that you should choose.
Moderate alcohol consumption has been proved to reduce levels of stress, this is not to say that we encourage you to drink when you need to unwind, there are healthier ways to cope with stress and anxiety, but enjoying a drink once in a while is perfectly fine. If you are going to have some drink, you might as well choose a healthy one. Here is a list!
1. Red wine
It is relatively low in calories and is rich in antioxidants such as resveratrol and proanthocyanidins.
Tequila may not have as severe of depressive qualities compared to other types of alcoholic beverages.
3. Vodka soda
Vodka is low in calories and sugar and soda water is hydrating, so a small amount of clear alcohol combined with it is one of the healthiest options.
4. Bloody Mary
Bloody Mary not only contains a minimum amount of alcohol, but it also contains a lot of veggies.
5. Mezcal on the rocks
Like tequila, it does not spike blood sugar as much as other types of alcohol.
6. Dry champagne
Dry wines have a lower level of sugar and can be a relatively way to enjoy a drink.
Cider is refreshing and it contains almost as many antioxidants as a glass of red wine.
8. Low-calorie beer
Did you know that you could actually get a low-calorie beer? They are under 100 calories a glass!
