Place avocado in a paper bag, checking on the avocado once daily for ripeness.

1. Use a paper bag
When an avocado is still too hard to eat and you want it to ripen faster, place it in a breathable container like a brown paper bag or a newspaper. The avocado will ripen faster due to the ethylene gas it produces.

Put the avocados in a bag with a banana and wait for one to two days.

2. Boost ripening time with bananas or apples
Add a banana, kiwi, or an apple to the paper bag containing the avocado to speed up the ripening process. And, of course, all the fruits will be ripening.

Wrap the avocado in aluminum foil and place it into the oven to ripening quickly.

3. Ripen avocados in the oven
Wrap the avocado in foil keep it close to other fruit. The thought is that the trapped gas will speed up the process to ripen the avocado. Then, place the avocado in a shallow dish and put it in the oven for 10 minutes.
