Hypertension, or high blood pressure, often goes undiagnosed because it is symptomless. Hypertension makes the blood press against the blood vessels and could lead to heart attack or stroke. But there are ways in which you can lower the risk of suffering from hypertension, here are 3 beverages that could help.
Low-fat milk is high in phosphorus, potassium and calcium –these 3 nutrients have been proved to be beneficial in reducing hypertension. Some of them are also fortified with vitamin D, which is great for healthy blood pressure. Swapping regular milk for low-fat milk is a minimal effort that can make a great deal of change.
2. Pomegranate juice
Just as low-fat milk pomegranate juice is packed with potassium and three times the amount of antioxidants of green tea or red wine. A daily dose of pomegranate juice has proved to reduce blood pressure.
Research has shown that people who drank at least a half-cup of moderate strength green or oolong tea a day for a year had almost 50% less risk of developing hypertension than those who did not drink tea. Those who drank more than 2 and a half cups of tea a day, reduced the risk of high blood pressure by 65%.
