f you follow the curly method like me, you've probably learnt to do completely away with silicones. Over the last years, silicones have been questioned regarding their performance, sustainability and safety. Let's now separate facts from myths.

Silicones clog your follicles

This is not true, silicones create a thin layer on your skin and hair that makes it appear smoother, but it's not conclusive. 

Oils and silicones

Hair oils usually have some silicones to make the blends more textured and give them styling capabilities.

About the buildup

It is not true that silicones cause a lasting buildup on your hair, when you wash your hair you are also removing silicone from your strands. 

Silicones will make your hair appear shinier and smoother, but the results are only temporary. This does not mean that your hair will be permanently damaged because of applying products containing silicones.
