Pre-shave oils are not only beneficial if you are looking to shave, they are also great at helping your skin prevent irritation, itchiness and ingrownhairs. Using oil before shaving ensures the skin is hydrated and lubricated, reducing friction and helping the blade glide across your face.
Pre-shave oils are, of course, used before shaving. It is recommended to wash your face with warm water or even have a warm shower to soften the hair and reduce the possibility of developing razor burn and bumps. It is also a good idea to exfoliate before shaving, to get rid of dead skin cells and unclog your pores and hair follicles – as a result, you'll get a clean shave.
Once your skin is clean and exfoliated, apply your oil of choice–more on that in a minute– on damp skin, and use your shaving cream, foam, or gel, and proceed to shave as usual.
Jojoba, moringa, or argan oil are great as they are non-comedogenic but they also have lots of hydrating properties. On top of that, you'll be giving your skin a nice dose of antioxidants to fight against free-radical damage, which in turn, will help you reduce fine lines, wrinkles and other signs of age such as hyperpigmentation.
