Eyelash lift explained: What to expect before booking

Getting an eyelash lift sounds very tempting, but scary too–at least for me. This is what you should expect when you get your first appointment.

If your lashes are too straight no matter how many layers of mascara and how much time you dedicate to pressing your eyelash curler, sometimes you need a bit of help. But if you don't think you have time to take proper care of lash extensions and falsies are too difficult to apply for you, getting an eyelash lift could be an option as it requires minimal maintenance.

What is an eyelash lift?

A lash lift is essentially a perm to curl from the base to the tip of the lashes to display its full extent. A curling rod and a lifting solution are applied. Though it is not as scary as seems, it is important to choose a licensed professional.

After assessing the kind of lash style you prefer, the technical will choose a suitable curling rod to shape lashes. This rod is typically made of silicone and it is placed onto the eyelids, then your natural lashes are curled over and attached to the rod with an adhesive. When the technician is satisfied with the position, they'll apply the lifting solution to set the shape.

The whole process will take around an hour, some salons require a patch test before the appointment so you don't get an allergic reaction.

The aftercare

The whole process will take around an hour, some salons require a patch test before the appointment so you don't get an allergic reaction.

After you've got the eyelash lift, you shouldn't apply any makeup or water for a day. It is also important to keep your lashes nourished and conditioned, so applying lash oils is a good idea.
