4 Tips to avoid a bloated face at home

If you usually wake up with a bloated face, or if you've had more salt than you are used to, you are definitely going to find these 4 tips to de-puff your face useful.

Some people are just more prone to wake up feeling –and looking– swollen, and for some others like me, if I go overboard with the salt, it can definitely make the situation way worse. 1. Use gravity in your favor

Sleeping with an extra pillow is a good idea to fight against gravity. An elevated angle reduces the amount of fluid that is retained in the face –I've been doing it for a few months now, and it seems to have improved my complexion a lot.

2. Take advantage of the cold

2. Take advantage of the cold

As soon as you wake up, wash your face with cold water to get the blood flowing. Apart from stimulating the vessels, getting the liquid flowing, and driving the fluid out, it is great to tighten the pores.

3. Use cryo tools

Pop your gua sha, face roller, or any cryo tools you have at home, and give yourself a lymphatic massage to get rid of excess fluid.

4. DIY it!

There is one recipe that I have recently tried and I think it will become my new skincare staple. The potato and green tea treatment:

  1. Once you've brewed your green tea, place a few potato slices on the cup of tea and let it cold in the refrigerator.
  2. Apply it to your skin and let it sit for about 20 minutes.

The antioxidants in the tea and the starch in the potato will brighten your complexion and de-puff your eyes.
