Summer can take its toll on our hair, apart from the swimming pool, the sun the beach, and constant sweating makes us want to wash our hair more often than usual. Of course, you already know the basics: regular hydration, and going for gentle shampoos and hair masks. Now there are some steps you can take to make it easier for your mane to stay healthy.
If you are going to spend time outside, try braiding your hair, wearing hats, or doing top knots, to avoid direct sunlight and air pollution damaging your hair.
Especially if you are going to style your hair with hot tools, you have to use heat protectants. You will be reducing frizz and protecting your hair, if you can do without the styling, much better, at least reduce the number of times you blow-dry or iron your mane.
There are products that have SPF protection, and if you don't have one, try using a leave-in product, resume or heat protector before swimming. Oils are great at creating a protective barrier.
The summer is the time to have your hair as long as possible, this will allow you to get rid of spit ends at the end of the season. Also, resist the urge to get a short fringe, as it will make your forehead sweat and make you more prone to breaking out.
