While we hope life in 2021 is not as stressful as last year, we do need to have some techniques at hand to unwind when we need it. Loving yourself is important, but what is actually to love yourself? To have an extra glass of wine? An extra piece of cheesecake? Here is how to do things differently to reduce stress in a healthy way.
It’s never too late to start practicing some selfcare. You’ve probably felt stressed at some point in your life and it can sometimes be overwhelming. It is usually related to specific situations like sitting for an exam, having an argument with someone you care for or having to meet a deadline. If you let yourself be stressed for a long time, it can harm your life. There are, however, some simple techniques you can resort to stay healthy.
Choose not to stress out
When something that is out of our control stresses us out, it is our choice to pay attention to it. Getting conscious of what is actually making you feel anxious and identifying whether you can change it or not, can make a difference. Meditate a few minutes a day to be conscious of your mind.
Write a journal
Journaling works as an emotional catharsis and it helps the brain regulate emotions. It also keeps your thoughts organized, helps you set your goals and relieves stress.
Don’t take anything personal
Most of the time people do things for themselves, they have their own shortcomings and they have nothing to do with us. Life is way easier if you don’t take responsibility for other’s actions and opinions.
Put on some perfume
Even if you are not going out or meeting anyone, have a shower and put on your favorite perfume for yourself. Smelling great makes you feel great.
Make your bed
Something as simple as making your bed and changing the sheets can boost your self-esteem and make you sleep better!
