With winter just around the corner, it's time to get serious with our curls. Here are some incredible hair masks that will help you restore them.
Curly hair is beautiful, but it can sometimes be a bit hard to dominate. If you are struggling or if you've lost your curl pattern, here are some natural hair masks that will help you restore them:
1- Aloe vera
Widely known for the amazing benefits it has, aloe vera is also a life-changing ingredient for hair care. It promotes shine and moisture while preventing hair loss and dandruff. Aloe vera gel has, besides water, a lot of minerals, vitamins, amino acids, and phytonutrients. However, it is worth mentioning that most brands selling pure aloe vera gel usually use other additives in their formula, so check well!
Cornstarch is a key ingredient for hair care. It's so versatile that it can either help you straighten your hair or restore your curls, which is our main interest here. If you have frizzy hair or your curl patterns are visibly damaged, this might be a great option for you. You can try his DIY hair mask version:
1/2 cup of water
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons of conditioner
1 tablespoon olive oil
Mix cornstarch and water thoroughly and place the mixture in a pot over low heat. Stir constantly until it turns into a jelly paste. Remove from heat and, once it's cold, add the conditioner first and the olive oil second. Mix until well incorporated. Apply to your hair and leave for 20 minutes. Remember to use a bathing cap and wrap your head in a warm towel!
3- Rice water
If you have been struggling with your curly hair for a while now, you have probably heard about rice water rinse. The reason why this is so popular is because of the many benefits it has. Thanks to the nutrients it contains, like amino acids, vitamin E, B vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. This combination makes your hair stronger, increases shine and helps your hair grow thick and healthy.
To use this method: take ½ cup of uncooked rice, rinse thoroughly, place rice in a bowl with 2–3 cups of water, and leave to soak for 30 minutes. Strain the rice water into a clean bowl and that's it, as simple as that.!
